A 19 year old tailor named Adebowale Eshinlokan, at the weekend appeared at an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, for allegedly defiling a 15-year-old girl.
The police charged Eshinlokan, who lives at Ajah area of Lagos, with defilement to which he pleaded not guilty.
Magistrate B. O. Osunsanmi, who ordered the police to send the case file to the state Director of Public Prosecutions for advice, admitted the defendant to N200, 000 bail with two sureties in the like sum.
She said the sureties must be employed and show evidence of two years tax payment to the Lagos State Government.
The magistrate adjourned the case till November 4 for mention.
Prosecuting Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Ezekiel Ayorinde alleged that the defendant committed the offence on August 19 at Sangotedo, Ajah, Lagos.
He alleged that the defendant had sex with the girl in an uncompleted building.
According to him, the girl’s parents reported the case to the police and the defendant was arrested.
Magistrate Osunsanmi said the offence contravened Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State.
