The Ekiti State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has arrested Dennis Kiyeve, a 52-year-old man, for sleeping with his niece who is a minor.
Kiyeve was reported to have deflowered and impregnated the girl and even threatened to kill her in order to cover his track.
Mr Solomon Iyamu, The state commandant of the NSCDC in Ado Ekiti, has promised that the suspect would be charged to court quickly to dance to the tune of the law, he would serve as a deterrent to others who are in the act of molesting their family members and minors.
Life began to get tough for the girl in 2013 after the death of her mother and she had to live with her uncle at Ilupeju village in the Gbonyin Ekiti Local Government Area of the state. It was alleged that by 2016, when she turned 12, Kiyeve had started having canal knowledge of her.
The girl, now 15-year-old, said she could not refuse the sexual advances of her uncle because he feeds and shelters her, adding that any attempt to refuse may result in hunger, punishment and deprivation of school fees. In 2016, she aborted her first pregnancy. She is currently pregnant again and after medical examinations, it was discovered that she has a fibroid tumour growing along with the baby and it’s capable of causing complications in the development of foetus.
