Suspended Kogi Central Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan dropped a bombshell on Sunday, with a biting “apology” to Senate President Godswill Akpabio over her explosive sexual harassment claims against him. The letter, was wrapped in sarcasm and was sent while Akpabio was in Rome for the late Pope Francis’ funeral and shared with reporters in Abuja. It comes after Natasha’s March 6 suspension from the Senate.
The drama kicked off when Natasha went on national TV, accusing Akpabio of targeting her for dodging his alleged advances. She didn’t stop there, at a UN meeting in New York, she called for global pressure to hold the Nigerian Senate accountable, blasting them for yanking her security, slashing her pay, and banning her from the National Assembly for six months. A court stepped in, stopping both sides from media interviews until the case wraps, but Natasha’s Sunday letter broke the silence.
Her “apology” was anything but humble. “I’m so sorry for having dignity,” she wrote, mocking Akpabio’s “requests” and slamming a system where success seems tied to personal favors, not merit. “My bad for thinking my Senate seat came from votes, not private dinners,” she quipped, signing off as “Unafraid, Unbought, and Unbroken.”
Akpabio’s camp hasn’t responded, and with him out of town, the Senate’s holding its breath.
