Nigeria has formally expressed its readiness to host the 2026 Airports Council International (ACI) Africa Regional Conference and Exhibition after the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, received the organisation’s leadership in Abuja. The visit, led by ACI Africa’s Secretary-General, Alli Tounsi, marked an early stage of assessments ahead of the major continental event scheduled for September 2026.

During the meeting, Tounsi highlighted Nigeria’s strong influence in Africa’s aviation sector, describing the country as a natural and strategic host. She noted that Nigeria’s expanding aviation footprint and leadership across the continent made it an ideal venue for the upcoming conference.

Responding, Keyamo affirmed Nigeria’s full acceptance and commitment to staging a world-class event. He stated that the nation has the infrastructure, capacity, and dedication required to successfully host the large gathering of aviation stakeholders.

Airports Council International represents airports worldwide, promoting safe operations and industry collaboration. Securing the hosting rights for 2026 further strengthens global confidence in Nigeria’s aviation capabilities and its growing role in regional transport development.

The ACI Africa delegation also met with senior officials of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, including Managing Director Olubunmi Kuku, Public Affairs and Consumer Protection Director Henry Agbebire, and Commercial and Business Development Director Adebola Agunbiade.
