Access Holdings Plc Appoints Bolaji Agbede as Acting Group CEO Following Tragic Loss

Access Holdings Plc has named Bolaji Agbede as the Acting Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO) in the wake of the untimely passing of its former GCEO, Herbert Wigwe, who tragically lost his life in a helicopter accident in the United States. The announcement comes after the company’s Board of Directors confirmed the appointment in a statement issued on Monday.

With nearly three decades of professional experience spanning banking and business consultancy services, Ms. Agbede brings a wealth of expertise to her new role. Having joined Access Bank in 2003, she has held various positions within the organization, including Head of Group Human Resources and founding Executive Director, Business Support.

Ms. Agbede holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics and Statistics from the University of Lagos and a Master of Business Administration Degree from Cranfield University, UK. She is also a member of the Chartered Institute of Management UK and the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria.

The appointment of Ms. Agbede is pending approval from the Central Bank of Nigeria, and it aligns with the company’s rigorous succession planning practices, according to Abubakar Jimoh, the chairman of Access Holdings Plc. He expressed confidence in Ms. Agbede’s ability to provide strong leadership, guided by her profound understanding of the company’s culture and strategic vision.
