It should be recalled that the Constitutional Court in Congo early on Sunday rejected the complaint of Martin Fayulu claiming that the election was rigged and backed Tshisekedi’s victory. Felix Tshisekedi is expected to be sworn in on Jan. 24.
The European Union and the African Union on Tuesday said they have taken note of the decision by the Constitutional Court of the Democratic Republic of Congo to back President-elect, Felix Tshisekedi, assuring him, they would work with him.
The European Union’s Foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini in a recent interview said; “We have taken note of the Constitutional Court’s proclamation,moreover, the challenge of the new president is a large one on many issues”.
The African Union has spoken through Rwanda’s Foreign Minister, Richard Sezibera saying he respects the court’s decision and they will give all necessary support to Felix Tshisekedi.
