APC Chairman Acknowledges Imperfections in February 25th Election

On Monday evening, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, acknowledged that the voting for the Presidential and National Assembly on February 25 was not “perfect.”

During his speech at the APC National Working Committee parley with Bola Tinubu, the president-elect, Adamu made the statement. Senator Kashim Shettima, the vice president-elect, and the National Assembly members-elect.
The closed-door meeting in Abuja’s State House Banquet Hall did not begin until approximately 2.48 p.m.

Shettima was one of the dignitaries who were observed at the event; The head of the Senate, Ahmed Lawan; Speaker of Place of Agents, Femi Gbajabiamila; Babatunde Fashola, Minister of Works and Housing; Among others are Senator Godswill Akpabio.

The development comes just a few days after disgruntled NWC members called for the party to be reformed and for him to resign in order to balance the contentious Muslim-Muslim ticket of the new administration, which has caused tension in the lead-up to the elections in 2023.
Talking at the occasion, Adamu saluted every one of the chosen political officeholders, saying they merit the delight of triumph subsequent to winning the February 25 races.

However, the beleaguered chairman of the APC acknowledged that the polls used to generate them were flawed.

“I very heartily felicitate all the distinguished men and women elected,” he said. I wish you all well. You are the new Nigerian team.
From May 29 this year, the weight of our public solidarity, harmony, and improvement will lay in your shoulders collectively.

It is just and right to acknowledge that the elections on February 25 were not perfect. We did not intend to hold flawless elections.

“World history has no examples of amazing races. Like any remaining popularity based countries, we set off on a mission to direct free, fair, and believable decisions. We did this.

“It gives me great pride to say that we accomplished this feat and kept the promise President Muhammadu Buhari made to the people. There were no allegations of vote-buying or outcry over any of the other problems with the way our elections were conducted for the first time in living memory. Although Rigging is not dead, it has been decapitated. We are also maturing alongside our democracy as it matures.

“According to the preliminary announcements made by the electoral umpire, INEC, of the results of the general elections held on February 25, 2023, the APC won the presidency and a majority in both of the National Assembly’s chambers.

“We chose not to rout the other political parties because they are our partners in the development and advancement of our nation,” he said.
