Candidate of the All Progressive Congress, Senator Ahmad Lawan who is representing Yobe North has been elected as Senate President of the Federal Rupublic of Nigeria.
He defeated his rival from the PDP, Senator Ndume who is representing Borno South with 79 votes out of 107 votes.
The announcement was made earlier today by the clerk of the National Assembl, Mr Mohammed Sani-Omolori in Abuja. The clerk disclosed that a total of 107 senators voted and Senator Lawan polled 79 votes while Ndume polled 28 votes.
Immediately he was pronounced winner Senator Lawan was sworn in by the CNA after which he took the oath of allegiance and that of the office.
