In the wee hours of Monday, the Deputy President of the Senate, Ike Ekweremadu through his twitter handle has charged the Federal government to withdraw charges levelled against the Chief Justice of Nigeria in person of Justice Walter Onnoghen.

According to Ike Ekweremadu who claimed that the charges are extremely dangerous for the democracy of the nation. He has quickly suggested that the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami should tender an apology to the nation’s Judiciary.

In his own words, he said ” I consider the charges against the Chief Justice of Nigeria, His Lordship, Justice Walter Onnoghen as ill advised and dangerous, especially after similar attempts at the leadership of the National assembly failed. This is extremely dangerous for democracy and will only divide the country further as well as alienate us as a country who is very low in upholding the rule of law and independence of the judiciary”.
