Ben White has now completed the much talked about transfer to Arsenal from Brighton for a fee believed to be in the region of £50million.
The 23 year old is the club’s third signing of the summer after Nuno Tavares and Albert Sambi Lokonga completed their respective moves from Benfica and Anderlecht earlier in the window.
The interest of the Gunners in the defender has been well known for some time now, but his role in helping the England squad reach the final of this summer’s Euros is understood to have delayed the transfer.
However, after returning from his holiday, White has completed his medical and is expected to join up with his new teammates to begin preparations for the coming season.
The England international’s arrival comes amid a summer of change at the back for Arsenal after David Luiz left the club at the end of his contract and William Saliba not deemed ready for the premier league.
White is expected to compete with Rob Holding and Calum Chambers for the regular starting spot on the right side of central defence, with Gabriel and Pablo Mari fighting for the spot on the left.
