In a thrilling match on Friday, Arsenal staged an incredible late comeback to salvage a 3-3 draw against Southampton, but their Premier League title hopes were put in jeopardy.

The Gunners were trailing 3-1 with just two minutes left in normal time, but goals from Martin Odegaard and Bukayo Saka in the dying moments of the game secured a point for Mikel Arteta’s side.

However, the draw was still a damaging result for Arsenal, who are now five points clear of second-placed Manchester City, but the champions have two games in hand.

If City win or draw against Arsenal and then win their remaining matches, they will be crowned champions regardless of Arsenal’s results.

Arsenal showed tremendous spirit to come back after a shaky start that saw goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale gifting Southampton the opening goal just 27 seconds into the game.

Former Arsenal forward Theo Walcott doubled Southampton’s lead before Gabriel Martinelli pulled one back for the Gunners. However, Duje Caleta-Car’s goal looked to have sealed the game for the Saints, before Odegaard and Saka’s heroics saved Arsenal from defeat.

Despite the thrilling comeback, Arteta’s team faces an intense challenge as they travel to Manchester City for a do-or-die showdown on Wednesday. If Arsenal fails to win, City will be in control of their destiny to win the Premier League title.
