Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has downplayed talk of his team being the new Premier League favourites after Liverpool suffered their third straight league defeat to Manchester United on Sunday. The Gunners’ 1-0 win over Fulham earlier in the weekend pushed them three points clear of second-placed Manchester City, fueling growing belief that this could finally be their season.

Since losing to Liverpool in August, Arsenal have been in superb form, remaining unbeaten in five league matches and eight in all competitions. Out of their eight Premier League games so far, they have claimed six victories and collected 19 of a possible 24 points. Their latest triumph at Craven Cottage has put them ahead of City and Liverpool by three and four points respectively.

Despite their hot streak, Arteta insists it’s too early to talk about titles. The Spanish manager is keen to keep his players grounded, reminding fans that less than a third of the season has been played. Arsenal have fallen just short in recent years, narrowly missing out on ending a two-decade title drought, and Arteta seems determined to avoid distractions.

Speaking ahead of Arsenal’s Champions League clash with Atletico Madrid, Arteta said he only focuses on his team’s performance and mentality. “The only thing I embrace is when I see the energy, the commitment, and the quality that they can deliver. That gives me conviction that we can go all the way,” he said.

He added, “But that’s just a feeling, every day you have to prove it. Every game in this league is must-win, so we don’t get carried away.” Arsenal fans may be daring to dream again, but their manager is keeping both feet firmly on the ground.
