The Academic Staff Union of Universities has been on strike for a period of up to 8 months which is due to the inability of the Federal Government to meet the demands of the association.

However it seems like there is now light at the end of the tunnel, as the meeting between the two parties yielded fruits on Friday.

In an a tweet on their official handle in the wee hours of Saturday morning, the association revealed it’s intension of calling off the 8 months old strike, after the Federal Government had agreed to pay certain amounts.

They also gave a condition as when the strike will be called off, insisting that the fundings promised by the Federal Government must be implemented before they take their decision.

As to when the federal government promised to comply, it seems not take much longer as Asuu revealed the government assured to pay before the 31st of December.

The union is now expected to report their agreement with the federal government to it’s various organs, and will give a feedback to the government as when the official date for calling off the 8 months old strike will be announced.
