Former Vice President and Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, was seen at the burial ceremony of Governor Seriake Dickson’s mother in Bayelsa State earlier exchanging pleasantries with Labour Party Presidential Candidate, Mr. Peter Obi.

Also present at the ceremony was the Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, who was seated next to Atiku.

Makinde, who is a member of the G-5 Governors, had previously worked against Atiku’s ambition during the last presidential election by demanding power shift to the South, a request that was met with resistance by the PDP leadership.

Peter Obi had defected from the PDP to the Labour Party a few months before the Party’s primary elections and went on to become the party’s Presidential candidate, finishing in third place during the February 25th election.

Atiku’s political ambition to become Nigeria’s President in 2023 was believed by many to have been hampered by the defection of Peter Obi and Seyi Makinde’s membership in the G-5 Governors, more so than the flaws of the Independent National Electoral Commission’s Biometric Voter Accreditation System (BVAS).
