Atiku says Buhari is fighting Opposition not corruption

Atiku Abubakar, former vice president of the country and the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, has taken a swipe at President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday. Atiku says that the President is not fighting corruption but the Opposition.

The fact that President Buhari has remained rather silent on the issue of bribe collected by the Kano state Governor, Ganduje Umar, from a contractor is rather shocking. This was the statement made by Mr Paul Ibe, Atiku’s media adviser.

The President, on Wednesday attended a town hall meeting hosted by Kadaria Ahmed, a journalist on the Nigerian Television Authority. And when he was asked to speak on the allegations against Ganduje he had this to say : “The state assembly is investigating and they have the mandate to deal with it and they have also gone to court, so I decided not to talk about it.

When the President was quizzed about former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal. He replied saying ” I don’t think that anybody that is being booted out is corrupt. I told you why I have to be careful. If there are strong allegations, people should come out with strong evidence like names of companies looted, contracts awarded, then, we take them before the court and the ICPC and we have to trust the system and allow them to complete investigations.”

Atiku has frowned against the way Buhari is steering the country and has called the President of Nigeria “partial” and has further said that Nigeria is more corrupt under the Buhari regime and this is alarming.
