Barack and Michelle Obama Endorse Kamala Harris for Presidential Nomination

Former President Barack Obama and ex-First Lady Michelle Obama have officially endorsed Vice-President Kamala Harris as the Democratic presidential nominee, putting an end to days of speculation. In a joint statement released Friday, the Obamas expressed their confidence in Harris’s vision, character, and strength, stating that she possesses the qualities needed for this pivotal moment in history.

“We could not be more thrilled to endorse Kamala Harris. She has the resume and more importantly, the vision, character, and strength required to lead,” the statement affirmed. The Obamas also pledged their full support to Harris’s campaign, echoing President Biden’s sentiment that choosing Harris as vice-president was one of his best decisions.

Harris, who has already secured the backing of a majority of Democratic delegates, is poised to officially become the party’s nominee at the upcoming convention in August. The endorsement from the Obamas underscores her extensive experience as California’s attorney general, a U.S. senator, and now as vice-president.

Accompanying the endorsement statement was a video showing Harris receiving a supportive phone call from the Obamas, emphasizing their commitment to her candidacy and their belief in her ability to win the election and serve the American people effectively.
