Brighton Secures Signing of James Milner on Free Transfer from Liverpool


Brighton & Hove Albion Football Club announced on Wednesday the acquisition of James Milner from Premier League rivals Liverpool, marking a significant addition to their squad ahead of their inaugural Europa League campaign.

The 37-year-old former England midfielder, renowned for his illustrious career that included stints at Leeds, Newcastle, Aston Villa, and Manchester City, has agreed to a one-year contract at the Amex Stadium. The deal also includes an option for a further 12-month extension, demonstrating Brighton’s confidence in Milner’s abilities.

Expressing his enthusiasm about the signing, Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi stated, “I’m delighted to welcome James to Brighton. He brings a wealth of experience and skill to our team, and I am confident that he will elevate us to new heights.”

Milner’s exceptional tenure at Liverpool, spanning eight years, yielded a collection of trophies, notably the Premier League and Champions League titles.

As his Reds contract reaches its conclusion, Milner’s arrival at Brighton is scheduled for June 30, where he is expected to make an immediate impact and provide invaluable leadership to the squad during their upcoming Europa League adventure.
