BUHARI EXPRESSES DISAPPOINTMENT AS INEC POSTPONES ELECTION

President Muhammadu Buhari, the presidential candidate of the All Progessives Congress has openly expressed his disappointment over the postponement of the general elections by INEC.

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, held a meeting of stakeholders, very early on Saturday morning. The outcome of the meeting led to the announcement that elections have been shifted by one week.

Buhari in a statement has pleaded with the electorate to remain calm and allow a place for peace and ensure that there’s no force or conspiracy derails the nation’s democratic development.

He was quoted saying, “I am deeply disappointed that despite the long notice given and our preparations both locally and internationally, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) postponed the Presidential and National Assembly elections within hours of its commencement. INEC themselves have given assurances, day after day and almost hour after hour that they are in complete readiness for the election”.

The announcement has seen many Nigerians travel to various locations where they registered just to exercise their right to vote, and has seen a number of international observers arrive in the country.
