Damini Ogulu, better known by his stage name Burna Boy, a Grammy-winning afrobeats star, has explained why he has kept quiet about the elections in 2023.
In contrast to some of his coworkers, Burna Boy had recently come under fire on social media for not speaking up about important issues in the upcoming 2023 elections.
He said that neither the candidate nor the party could be trusted to keep their campaign promises, so they won’t want to convince people to vote for someone who will disappoint them.
On his Instagram stories, he wrote, “I don’t know why it’s such a big deal to some Nigerians that I haven’t been vocal about the elections.”
Personally, I don’t have a favorite candidate. I have never voted for a political party or candidate because I don’t want you to vote and then blame me when the person acts normally. Having said that, I hope that all votes are counted and the best man prevails.
