Three day fasting and prayers have been declared by the leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria over the killing of the Adamawa state chairman of the association, Reverend Lawan Andimi.
Leadership reports that CAN in a statement on Tuesday, January 21, in Abuja, signed by its spokesperson, Evangelist Kwamkur Vondip, described the killing of Andimi as a sad occurrence.
The religious organisation stated that it made the best efforts to secure the release of the pastor but it was not possible because it didn’t have the military power to do so.
It cited another killing of a cleric, Rev Denis Bagauri, who was reportedly murdered by unknown gunmen in his residence at Mayo Belwa of Adamawa state.
CAN said it viewed the unabated kidnappings, extortions and killings of Christians and innocent Nigerians as shameful to the government that each time boasts that it has conquered insurgency.
The association body urged Christians demand that the Buhari-led administration be more proactive in matters of security.
