Olukayode Ariwoola, the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), celebrated this year’s Easter with Christians in the nation and around the world. Additionally, during the ongoing fast of Ramadan, he greeted Muslims.
Yesterday, in a statement, Justice Ariwoola advised Christians and Muslims to pray fervently for peace and tranquility in Nigeria on the two occasions.
He personally signed the document, which reads: Christians and Muslims around the world are fasting and pleading with Almighty God for protection and blessings in gratitude of Almighty Allah, the most merciful, the most benevolent, and the most gracious. I extend my greetings to everyone.
“I am taking this opportunity to express my gratitude to my brother Justices of the Supreme Court of Nigeria and our supporting staff for their unwavering cooperation since the middle of September 2022, when the current legal year of 2022/2023 began.
“I need to explicitly appreciate and recognize my sibling Judges, who have conveyed 272 decisions in the ordinary common, criminal and political race related requests under massive strain.
“We acknowledge, adore, and praise Almighty God for continuing to keep us all healthy.
“I wish the Christians a happy Easter and the Muslims a prosperous Ramadan and a happy Eid-el-Fitr.
“The Supreme Court will resume later this month after being off for Easter and Eid al-Fitr.”
