Clarification: Tinubu’s recent travel was for vacation, not due to illness – Onanuga confirms

The All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council has dispelled rumors that the incoming president, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, was rushed overseas for treatment.

The alleged illness of the former Lagos governor and his late-night flight to London, United Kingdom, have been widely reported in the media.

This development comes just a few hours after Peter Obi, a candidate for the Labour Party, filed a petition with the election tribunal to challenge the outcome of the presidential election on Saturday, which resulted in the president-elect.

The president-elect is frequently rumored to have been rushed overseas for treatment.

In August of last year, shortly before the electioneering campaign began, a similar scenario was reported.

Bayo Onanuga, the APC PCC Director of Media and Publicity, responded to the news of Tinubu’s illness on Wednesday by denying the allegation and claiming that his principal only went abroad to rest.

Onanuga also mentioned that he would take advantage of the vacation to perform Umrah, or the lesser Hajj, following the annual Muslim fast.
