It’s no news that South Africa has got one of the continent’s best rail network and this fact is quite enviable. Accidents they say are accidental and rail crashes are quite inevitable in South Africa.

On Tuesday, the 8th of January three people reportedly lost their lives and approximately 300 were injured after two trains collided in South Africa’s administrative capital, Pretoria.

For empahsis sake, It should be called to remembrance that in October 2018, about 320 people were injured after a similar incident occurred where a fully packed train traveling from Johannesburg to Pretoria ran into the back of a stationary train.

The crash which happened at about 9:30 a.m left about 82 passengers with critical injuries and others with minor injuries after a train full of passengers ran into a stationary train at the Mountain View station.

“We do not rule out the possibility of more fatalities as we search through the wreckage for survivors,” the emergency official, Charles Mabaso, told Reporters.

The authorities are investigating the cause of the collision, the latest in a series of train accidents in South Africa.
