The Osun State Governorship Election Tribunal sitting in Abuja has declared Senator Adeleke Ademola of the People’s Democratic Party winner of the 2018 gubernatorial election held in the state.
The panel has held out that the All Progressives Congress and its candidate, Gboyega Oyetola, were not validly returned.
The Tribunal also ruled that PDP and Adeleke had concrete evidences to prove that the state Returning Officer cancelled the results in 7 Polling Units, adding that the petitioners proved that the Returning Officer has no power to cancel election results of a polling unit.
The Tribunal also went ahead to deduct from the votes of both the APC and PDP in 17 polling units where there was non compliance. A total of 2,029 votes was deducted from APC and 1,246 votes from PDP votes.
