A Magistrate Court in Ikorodu, Lagos, has ordered a DNA test on Liam Aloba, the son of late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad. The order came after Mohbad’s father, Joseph Aloba, applied for a test to confirm if Liam is truly his grandson.
Magistrate Adefisoye Sonuga directed that the test be carried out at an accredited medical facility in Nigeria or abroad. The order also permits the Military Hospital in Yaba, where Mohbad’s body is kept, to provide tissue, hair, or other samples if required.
Joseph Aloba, through his lawyer Augustine Adegbemi, argued that confirming paternity is important for the child’s welfare and future support. Mohbad’s widow, Omowunmi Cynthia Aloba, listed as the respondent in the case, did not oppose the request.
The court further instructed that two separate DNA tests be conducted, one in Nigeria and another overseas, with both parties or their representatives present during sample collection.
The case has been adjourned to November 11, 2025, for further proceedings after the results are expected to be available.
