The sacking of Crystal Palace’s first-team manager Patrick Vieira has been confirmed by the club.

Following the departure of their previous manager, Roy Hodgson, who had been with the club since 2017, the legendary Arsenal FC player was hired by the club on July 4, 2021, signing a three-year contract.

As a result of his recent poor performance in roughly 12 matches in a row since the beginning of 2023, the Eagles are currently three points behind Bournemouth, who are in 18th place in the Premier League.

On Friday, the chairman of the club, Steve Parish, issued a statement in which he said, “It is with enormous regret that this difficult decision has been made.”

“Ultimately, our performance over the past few months has placed us in a precarious league position, and we felt that a change was required to give us the best chance of staying in the Premier League.

However, Patrick has had a significant impact since joining us in the summer of 2021, and I and all of his coworkers hold him in the highest regard.

“He led the team to a Wembley FA Cup semi-final and a respectable 12th place finish playing some exciting football last season. This was a challenging and crucial season for the club given the changes we made to the squad before he came in.

We are all grateful to Patrick and his team for their service, and he has given the club everything he has.

“We also wish Patrick, Osian, Kristian, and Said the best for their futures,” the statement reads.
