Davido’s ‘Timeless’ shatters records as first African album to claim #1 spot on US iTunes chart


With his new album “Timeless,” Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, also known as Davido, set a record for African music on the US iTunes Albums Chart.

On Wednesday, April 5, 2023, the album reached the top of the chart, becoming the first African album to do so in the world’s largest music market.

On March 31, 2023, Davido released his fourth studio album, “Timeless.” The album features appearances by Nigerian artists Asake, Fave, and The Cavemen, as well as DMW’s newest additions Morravey and Logos Olori. It also features appearances by Grammy-winning Beninese singer Angelique Kidjo, British rapper Skepta, South African music producer/DJ Musa Keys, Jamaican dancehall/reggae singer Dexta Daps,

Since then, the 17-track album has gained popularity across a variety of music platforms, with Spotify declaring that it is the most streamed album in Nigeria, Canada, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

Additionally, it set a record for the most first-day Apple Music streams ever for an African album.
