It has been reported that about 15 people lost their lives in what happens to be a fatal accident involving a large truck fully loaded with bags of rice which lost control and ran into a popular market in Iworoko, Ifelodun/Irepodun local government area of Ekiti State.

The ongoing ASUU strike happened to reduce the amount of casulties as more lives would have been lost had ASUU not been on strike as the market is mostly attended by students of the Ekiti State University.

People who were sent early to their graves include a mother and her child,a serving Corp member, some traders and some students of the Ekiti state university. Immediately the accident was made public, a towing vehicle was deployed to the scene to clear the highway for other people plying the route.

Mrs Bisi Egbeyemi, the deputy Governor of Ekiti state sent condolence messages to the concerned familes including those that survived with minor injuries to those that lost their loved ones. She claimed that the government of the state was greatly touched by the incident. She later visited the injured people at the emergency ward of the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital and promised that the government of the state will foot the bills.
