The Nigerian electricity distribution companies (Discos) achieved a revenue collection efficiency of 79.31% in the second quarter of 2024, according to data released by the commission. Out of a total N543.64 billion billed to customers, N431.16 billion was successfully collected. This marks a slight improvement over the 79.11% efficiency recorded in the first quarter.
In the first quarter of 2024, the Discos collected N291.62 billion from N368.65 billion billed to consumers. The 0.20 percentage point increase in collection efficiency between the two quarters reflects a modest gain in revenue management.
Among the distribution companies, Ikeja and Eko Discos led with collection efficiencies of 94.67% and 88.03% respectively. On the other hand, Yola Disco recorded the lowest efficiency at 55.67%, highlighting disparities in performance across the sector.
