The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has made a significant arrest in the case of a fraudulent individual impersonating a Senator.

Ifechukwu Tom Makwe was apprehended in the Guzape area of Abuja following actionable intelligence regarding his involvement in internet-related fraud, amounting to a staggering sum of €5.7 million.

Upon closer examination, the suspect, who operated under multiple aliases such as Fahad Makwe, Senator Tompolo, Tom Makwe, and Dr. Bran, was found guilty of deceiving a Spanish national out of €5.7 million.

Makwe cunningly assumed the roles of a US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) agent and diplomatic solicitor, skillfully exploiting counterfeit identities to carry out his fraudulent activities.

Investigations have revealed that the suspect initiated his fraudulent endeavors in 2013 when he first encountered the victim on a social media platform. Over time, he gradually gained the victim’s trust before exploiting it for personal gain.

Once the investigations are concluded, Makwe will face charges in court, thereby being held accountable for his alleged crimes.
