THE Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, paraded thirteen suspected internet fraudsters, alleged to have defrauded members of the public on numerous occasions. The suspects were caught in possession of eight exotic utility vehicles, different types of laptops, phones and cameras and were paraded at the Enugu police station.
Mr Usman Imam, the head of EFCC in the South east, also confirmed that some of the suspects were arrested this year in Awka, Anambra state and others in Enugu state, in a raid that followed intelligent surveillance on the suspects. Imam sadly confirms that apart from public corruption, internet fraud is another factor affecting the Nation’s image negatively.
He however promised that the commission was determined to stamp out cyber crimes, promising that the suspects would be charged to court as soon as can be.
