FCT Minister Wike Declares War on Bandits, Promises Vigilant Security Measures

The Minister of Federal Capital Territory, Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, launched a proactive initiative to instill confidence in area councils by vowing to make it challenging for bandits to operate. Amidst a backdrop of escalating kidnappings and violence in the region, Wike held a town hall meeting in Bwari town, emphasizing a no-nonsense approach to address security concerns.

Wike asserted that the era of complacency is over, pledging full government support to equip security agencies. He announced President’s approval to provide necessary resources and called on the community to actively participate by sharing information with the authorities. Wike’s stern message extended to potential informants, warning that their activities would be closely monitored.

Expressing concern about crowdfunding for ransom, Wike discouraged such efforts, emphasizing that it inadvertently aids terrorists. The minister urged unity against kidnappers and outlined plans for continued engagement with area councils to ensure ongoing collaboration.

Highlighting recent attacks in various communities, including Tokulo, Kuduru, Zuma, Dutse-Sagwari, and Kawu, Wike underscored the urgency of collective action. The minister’s visit signals a commitment to tackle security challenges head-on, reinforcing the government’s determination to safeguard lives and property in the Federal Capital Territory.
