The Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting presided over by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, has approved a number of contracts worth billions of naira.
The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) modernisation project was granted approval by FEC despite the warnings by two Senior Advocates of Nigeria on Tuesday that asked the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF), Abubakar Malami, to obey a court order in respect of a dispute on the multi-million naira e-Customs modernisation project.
The project has now been awarded to Batman Security Consultants and Suppliers Limited as the project sponsor, Africa Finance Corporation (AFC) as lead financier, while Weyway technologists will be trained as lead technical service provider.
On another note, the FEC approved N3.4 billion for the procurement of an aircraft by the Nigeria Customs Service.
The Minister of State Budget and National Planning, Clement Agba, disclosed this while briefing State House correspondents at the end of the week’s cabinet meeting.
Agba said the aircraft will help in carrying out air surveillance and curb the activities of smugglers.
The approved contracts also included an augmentation cost for the construction of the Nigerian Deposit Insurance Corporation’s (NDIC) head office building in Abuja and Lagos, including its training institute in Lagos.
In conclusion, the FEC meeting approved the sum of N45.9 billion for the construction of the Nigerian Deposit Insurance Corporation’s (NDIC) head office building in Abuja and Lagos.
Contracts for the Ministry of Works and Housing were also awarded, including an augmentation cost for the Ogun-Sagamu road project.
