The federal government has approved the deployment of more security operatives to Lagos State to protect both private and public properties and facilities from further destruction.
This development was confirmed by the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Thursday during an interview programme on Arise TV which was monitored by Naija News.
The Governor disclosed during the interview that the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen Abayomi Olonisakin; and the Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Tukur Buratai both talked to him via telephone on Wednesday, notifying him of their plans to which he gave approval.
He explained that the deployment of more soldiers is in the best interest of everyone as the wanton destruction of properties which is part of the aftermath of the Lekki toll gate shooting should not be allowed to continue.
Both public and private infrastructures need to be protected from further destruction, looting and arson which was witnessed in Lagos state over the past 48 hours.
This online medium reports that police stations, banks, the palace of the Oba of Lagos, TVC news station, the Nigerian Ports Authority head office, BRT bus terminals and many more have witnessed a level of destruction or totally burnt down within the last 48 hours.
