Federal Government Sponsors 179 Nigerian Students on Educational Trips to Russia

A cohort of 179 Nigerian students is set to embark on an academic journey to Russia, marking a significant step in the 2023/2024 Bilateral Education Agreement (BEA). The Minister of Education, Prof. Tahir Mamman, emphasized the crucial role these scholars play as ambassadors for the nation during a recent pre-departure briefing in Abuja.

Minister Mamman outlined that the selection of these students aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s ambitious Renewed Hope Agenda. The agenda aims to empower talented Nigerians, providing them with the knowledge, skills, and competence essential for the country’s development.

Representing the Minister, Director of Tertiary Education, Rakiya Gambo Iliyasu, stressed the importance of upholding good values and maintaining a focused approach to their studies. She reminded the scholars that their educational pursuit is not just an individual endeavor but a national investment. The Minister urged them not to perceive it as unrestricted freedom, emphasizing the nation’s expectation of a return that contributes to moving Nigeria forward.

In response, Moses Inalegu, speaking on behalf of the scholars, expressed gratitude to both the Federal Government and the Russian Federation for this invaluable opportunity. He reassured that the students are committed to making the most of this chance, pledging not to falter in their dedication to academic excellence and national service.
