FINALLY, LIVERPOOL FC LIFTS THE PREMIER LEAGUE TROPHY AFTER A 30 YEAR DROUGHT

On Wednesday evening, the Reds were crowned champions of England for the first time in 30 years, ending one of the most famous droughts in football

The moment an entire generation of Liverpool fans have been waiting to see for the first time in their lives has finally happened.

The club are Premier League champions having sealed the title with seven games to spare – and now have the trophy to show for it.

Manager Jurgen Klopp, who took charge of the club in October 2015, has led them on this journey from ‘doubters to believers’, as he so aptly put all those years ago.

The German and his staff were the first up on the podium to collect their winners medals, which were handed to them by the Premier League’s chief executive Richard Masters and Liverpool legend Kenny Dalglish.

The Liverpool players, who have worked together brilliantly to win the trophy all Kopites crave, then came on to collect their medals

Club captain, Jordan Henderson – a player who’s had his ability, leadership and even his running style questioned since signing in 2011 to collect the trophy his huge efforts truly deserve.

He didn’t play against Chelsea, but Henderson wore full kit and the captain’s armband as he was handed the iconic trophy.

Henderson even fended off his knee injury to do his trademark trophy celebration shuffle before hoisting the Premier League high in the air as fireworks and a spectacular light show went around Anfield.

And when the initial celebrations died down, Liverpool’s famous anthem ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ was played on Anfield’s PA system. Fans were of course not allowed inside the ground but the players celebrated in front of the Kop end.
