FirstBank Rebrands subsidiaries in UK and Africa for stronger global presence

A gradual change in the corporate name of First Bank of Nigeria Limited’s subsidiaries in the United Kingdom and Sub-Saharan Africa has been announced.

The bank uncovered this in a proclamation by the Group Head, Marketing and Corporate Communications, First Bank, Folake Ani-Mumuney, on Thursday named, ‘FirstBank declares a name change of its auxiliaries, repeats its obligation to helping cross-line business potential open doors in Africa and the world’.
It stated, “The first set of subsidiaries effecting the name alignment are FBNBank UK, FBNBank Sierra Leone, FBNBank Gambia, and FBNBank DRC.”

“They are presently referred to and tended to as FirstBank UK, FirstBank Sierra Leone, FirstBank Gambia and FirstBank DRC. The subsidiaries in Guinea, Senegal, and Ghana will be the next to undergo the phased name change.

The bank said that the name change was being done to bring the subsidiaries into line with the parent brand and to let them enjoy the strong heritage and brand equity that FirstBank Nigeria had built up over its 129 years as the leading bank.

It stated that this would result in improved brand clarity, uniformity, and consistency across all of the Bank’s markets of operation.

“The name change which coincides with FirstBank’s 129th founding anniversary (March 31st, 2023) is indeed a milestone reflective of our resolve to continuously provide the gold standard of excellence and value as we put our customers first,” said Dr. Adesola Adeduntan, Chief Executive Officer of FirstBank Group.

“The new personality of the auxiliaries adds to an upgraded brand presence. It enables our stakeholders and customers to better comprehend the significance of the FirstBank Group’s extensive business networks, competitive pricing, and diverse product suites.

“These include our commitment to boosting cross-border businesses, including trade and investment opportunities that are essential for enhancing trade relations between countries, thereby strengthening the economies of host communities and reducing poverty,” the statement reads.
