Flying Eagles soar to victory over hosts Egypt in Under-20 AFCON opener”

In their second match at the currently taking place Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), the Flying Eagles of Nigeria defeated the hosts Egypt 1-0 on Wednesday.

Before their final group game against Mozambique, the Nigerian team needed Solomon Agbalaka’s goal in the 71st minute to win and get three points.

In their first match on Sunday, Nigeria and Senegal both lost by the same amount.

Excited Nigerian football fans living in Lagos were quick to praise the team’s victory, stating that it was well-earned and placed the team in a favorable position.

Tope Ayomekun, one of them, said that the match was tough because Egypt was playing in front of home fans and needed to win after their first match was a draw.

Ayomekun declared, “It was a great match with all the electrifying moments expected from both sides, but in the end the Nigerian team prevailed; I congratulate the team and wish them more success.”

Another fan, Anthony Onyegbulam, said that the team rose to the occasion and put their rivals in the right place.

He stated that the team’s attack still required much more cohesion to score more goals.

“The team succeeded. However, in order to achieve positive outcomes in the end, they should maintain their fighting spirit and score more goals,” Onyegbulam stated.

Another football fan, Funsho Oguntokun, expressed delight in the outcome.

He stated that the team now has the necessary confidence for their final group phase game.
“I congratulate the team, and it is a fantastic result. However, there is still a lot to be done because no team is immune to this competition, according to Oguntokun.
