Former Chelsea midfielder, Mikel Obi hopes for a UCL upset

Mikel Obi, a former Chelsea midfielder, expects the Premier League team to pull off an upset against Real Madrid on Wednesday in the first-leg quarterfinals of the UEFA Champions League at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The London club has had a terrible season in the Premier League, as they sit in the 11th position with 39 points after 30 games.

Graham Potter was fired from Chelsea, and former player and manager Frank Lampard was brought back with only nine wins and 10 draws.

The 2022/23 season has not been awesome of the time for the Spanish giants either with manager, Carlo Ancelotti being connected with an exit from the club.

If this is Ancelotti’s final season in charge of the Blancos, it would be a miracle for him to leave with another La Liga and Champions League double. Barcelona lost to Villarreal 3-2 over the weekend, giving them a chance to move 13 points ahead of them at the top.

Real Madrid have made winning Champions League title number 15 their top priority as their Catalonian counterparts continue to ride off into the sunset. They want to knock out an English team in a knockout match for the fourth time in a row.

Mikel, who played for Chelsea from 2006 to 2017, stated that he hoped his former team could upset the Spanish giants at the Bernabeu and probably eliminate them because there was so much at stake for both sides.

“When you look at the two teams and consider who is in form and who is not in form, I think Madrid are playing very well and they just beat Barcelona 4-0 at home,” “When you look at the two teams and considering who is in form and who is not in form, I think Madrid are playing very well and they just beat Barcelona 4-0 at home,” If you compare the two teams, you will conclude that Madrid will win, but I believe my former team will win, and I hope Frank Lampard can restore the magic to the club.

“I want to give Chelsea a chance, but it will be hard for Chelsea to play against Madrid.”
