Former Edo State Governor Defends President Tinubu’s Approach to Challenges, Rejects ‘Magical Solution’ Expectations

Former Governor of Edo state, Adams Oshiomhole, came to the defense of President Bola Tinubu on Sunday, emphasizing that those who voted for him as president were well aware that he is not a magician. Oshiomhole pointed out that during his presidential campaign, Tinubu never pledged to miraculously fix the country’s numerous problems in just 24 hours.

In an interview on Channels Television’s ‘Politics Today,’ Oshiomhole stated, “They know they were not electing a magician. And nobody promised a magical solution. Don’t bother giving me an example. I know what we (APC) promised more than you. Whatever is reported, we are the source. We did not promise anyone a 24-hour solution, and we did not promise an overnight solution. Can you show me any document where we said in 24 hours, this will be done?”

Oshiomhole dismissed the notion that once promises are made, solutions will automatically emerge once the president assumes office. He emphasized that resolving issues like fuel hike, unemployment, and other challenges takes time and cannot be accomplished in a single day.

He commended President Tinubu for his commitment and proactive approach since assuming office, particularly in withdrawing the subsidy and acknowledging the need to adjust wages in the formal sector while also allocating funds to support vulnerable individuals.

“To be fair, the fact that the doctor is committed to treating the patient and claims to know the nature of the disease afflicting the patient doesn’t mean that as soon as you wheel the patient to the theatre, a solution emerges,” Oshiomhole remarked.
