In a press statement made at his residence in Bodija, Ibadan, High Chief Rashidi Ladoja, the former Governor of Oyo State and Otun Olubadan of Ibadanland, finally addressed the recent elevation of 11 High Chiefs to the status of beaded crown Oba. Ladoja firmly expressed his lack of interest in any crown other than that of the revered Olubadan of Ibadanland.
Governor Seyi Makinde had signed the approval for the promotion of the 11 Ibadan High Chiefs to beaded crown Obas. According to the letter sent to the governor by the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Lekan Balogun, the installation ceremony has been provisionally scheduled for Friday, July 7.
Among the High Chiefs set to be elevated are Balogun of Ibadanland, Owolabi Olakulehin; Otun Balogun, Tajudeen Ajibola; Osi Olubadan, Eddy Oyewole; Osi Balogun, Lateef Adebimpe; Ashipa Olubadan, Biodun Kola-Daisi; Ashipa Balogun, Kola Adegbola; Ekerin Olubadan, Hamidu Ajibade; Ekerin Balogun, Olubunmi Isioye; Ekarun Olubadan, Bayo Akande; and Ekarun Balogun, Abiodun Azeez.
During the media interaction, Ladoja made his stance clear, stating, “When I initially entered the race to become the Olubadan, my sole focus was on attaining the prestigious title of Olubadan of Ibadanland. The only crown I am interested in wearing is that of Olubadan of Ibadanland. Other crowns hold no appeal for me.”
With this statement, Ladoja firmly asserted his unwavering commitment to the revered title he seeks, reinforcing his dedication to the Olubadan position and emphasizing his disinterest in pursuing any other crown.
