In a meeting held at the presidential villa on Friday, the immediate-past governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, expressed his unwavering loyalty to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and dismissed any intentions to join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Wike, accompanied by Governor
Seyi Makinde of Oyo State and former governor of Delta State, James Ibori, attended the meeting to show support for the new president, Bola Tinubu.

When questioned about the possibility of defecting to the APC, Wike firmly stated, “No. No plans. Nothing like that in the offing. We are Nigerians and we have come to give the president support. That is what is required. There is no big deal about that.”

It is noteworthy that Wike had previously clashed with Abubakar Atiku, the presidential candidate of the PDP, before the February 25 election, due to differences over zoning. Additionally, Wike is currently challenging the PDP’s right to expel him for alleged ‘anti-party’ activities in court, further showcasing his dedication to the party.
