Yobe State’s Governor Mai Mala Buni has given the go-ahead for the disbursement of long-awaited pension payments to verified pensioners from the local government sector. The governor’s decision encompasses all 17 Local Government Areas (LGAs) in the state. This significant development was revealed in an official statement provided to the media by Alhaji Mamman Mohammed, the Director-General of Press and Media Affairs for the Governor’s office, in Damaturu.
The sum of N667,045,441.22 has been earmarked by Governor Buni for allocation to 475 local government pensioners across Yobe State’s LGAs. This much-needed financial boost is a direct result of the comprehensive screening and verification process that the pensioners underwent.
The diligent efforts of the verification committee led to the meticulous validation of the 475 beneficiaries. The committee has thoughtfully compiled comprehensive lists, differentiating between living and deceased pensioners, according to the respective local government areas they hail from. This initiative not only acknowledges those who are still with us but also respects the memory of those who have passed on.
This latest announcement continues Governor Mai Mala Buni’s ongoing commitment to resolving the backlog of pension payments owed to retired local government personnel. The governor’s proactive stance in addressing this issue serves as a testament to his dedication to the well-being and financial security of Yobe State’s pensioners.
