An accident which happened around the Benin-Lagos expressway involving a truck full of diesel and an Audi car was reported to have caused something sort of a scare in the minds of motorists and passersby. The rescue team saved the day by getting to the accident scene very eary and this action reduced the number of casualties. The Governor of the Edo state, Mr Godwin Obaseki has applauded the rescue team and has further thanked them for their efforts and for putting up a brave fight.
The Governor of the State speaking through his Special Adviser on Media and Communication Strategy, Mr. Crusoe Osagie, quoted the governor as saying that “the incident was regrettable.”
According to him, “the governor is deeply saddened by the incident. He expressed his condolences with the families of the dead and prayed for the quick recovery of those who are hospitalised.
Reports have it that one of the cars involved in the unfortunate accident was driving against traffic, and Mr Osagie has called on motorists to do well to obey all traffic rules and regulations.
Following the sad incident, The government of Edo state has suggested that highly flammable products be transported by rail, pipeline or at night when the traffic is light.
The governor’s aide extended the State government’s condolences to the families of the affected victims, and wished those still receiving treatment, quick recovery.
