Osun State Governor, Mr Gboyega Oyetola, spoke on Thursday at the inauguration of the secretariat complex of Ila Central Local Council Development Area, Ila Oregun. He has informed the people of the state that his government had no plan to return to payment of modulated salaries to civil servants, nor lay off workers in the public service.
Oyetola has quickly corrected the insinuation that the government was planning to return to payment of modulated salary, which ended in June 2018 and he has termed it “baseless and unfounded,”, he believes that the assertion was being peddled by the opposition and people with ulterior motive.
He further urged workers to disregard the rumour, the governor explained that the state government paid modulated salary to its senior employees during its economic hardship but this was terminated in June 2018, stressing that
his administration had been working to develop workable and realistic means of increasing the revenue of the state to match its expenditure.
Oyetola rounded off saying that his government would ensure proper diversification of the economy in such a way that the state will be financially strong enough to cater for its needs without depending on allocation from the federation account.
