A high-fibre diet can cure symptoms of type-2 diabetes by boosting the good bacteria in the guts, according to Chinese scientists writing in the journal Science.

Type- 2 diabetes leaves the patient’s bodies unable to control their levels of blood sugar.
The Chinese scientists found that when diabetes patients ate plenty of nuts, fruits and fresh vegetables, their levels of haemoglobin alc, an important maker of the disease were reduced by 20percent over 12weeks. They linked this effect to shifts in the make-up of the billions of bacteria that colonise each person intestinal tract. The diet bolstered 15 strains that seemed to thrive on the fibre and churn out fatty acids that are known to protect against diabetes.
