Maurizio Sarri has confirmed that Gonzalo Higuain will wear the blue colours sooner than later, but will not have completed his long awaited move to Chelsea in time to face Tottenham in the EFL Cup on Thursday.

The Argentine striker is set to join the Blues on loan from AC Milan, having completed his medical today and is just a few hours from finalising terms.

Higuain arrived AC MILAN on loan from Juventus following the arrival of superstar, Cristiano Ronaldo, which cost Juventus about €112million, a transfer that shook the whole of Italy. 31-year old Higuain has managed six goals in 15 league appearances this term but has failed to show the sort of form he produced under Sarri at Napoli in 2015-16, when he scored 36 times in 35 matches, breaking the record for Italy’s top flight set by Gunnar Nordahl in 1950.

However, Sarri believes that Higuain goal scoring form has dwindled because he is not in a top side, he strongly believes that the glory days for Higuain will be back just as he was when he was at Napoli

Sarri has nothing but sweet words for the forward saying; “He is a good lad who wants to win all the time, in every situation. He is a real top player that would develop every side. In the last five years it only happened twice that he lost his temper – for Napoli against Udinese and Milan against Juve. As far as failure is concerned, I wouldn’t call it failure”.
