A Nigerian woman named Thelma Chiaka has given birth to sextuplets in Houston, Texas beating the odds to make her one in 4.7 billion. She has made history because having sextuplets is so rare.
Chiaka welcomed two sets of twin boys and one set of twin girls on Friday morning at The Woman’s Hospital of Texas. All six babies were born between 4.50 am and 4.59 m. The weght of the children range from about one pound, 12 ounces to two pounds, 14 ounces.
According to the hospital, the babies are in stable conditions and the neonatal intensive care unit have promised to continue to look after them.
The delivery team was led by Dr Ziad Haidar, Dr Sharmeel Khaira and Dr Israel Simchowitz and rhey all have confirmed that Chiaka is doing well and also in a stable condition.
While Chiaka has yet to name all of her children, the hospital revealed that she has named her two daughters Zina and Zuriel.
