Ibadan Residents Protest Against Soaring Food Prices and Economic Hardship

Residents of Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State, took to the streets on Monday to protest the escalating cost of food and the challenging state of the economy.

Demonstrators congregated around the Mokola area, brandishing placards bearing messages such as ‘End food hike and inflation,’ ‘The poor are starving,’ and ‘Tinubu, don’t forget your promises,’ among others. They voiced their frustrations through chants and songs, expressing their discontent with the current situation.

Despite the peaceful nature of the rally, armed policemen were present at the protest scene to ensure order. The protest was a response to the economic hardship exacerbated by the removal of petrol subsidy, reflecting widespread concerns among the populace.
