Nigeria’s biggest carrier, Air Peace, has written the Federal Government, expressing readiness to evacuate stranded Nigerians from South Africa following the resurgence of Xenophopic attacks.
The airline made its intention known in a letter to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffery Onyeama, addressing the situation in South African as unfortunate.
The letter which is dated 4th of September was duly signed by the Chief Operating Officer of the airline, Mrs. Oluwatoyin Olajide.
The Chairman of the Airline, Mr. Allen Onyema, said the gesture was in solidarity with the government of President Muhammadu Buhari.
Air Peace appealed to the Nigerian embassy in South Africa and the South African government to transport stranded Nigerians to the Airport for Air Peace to convey them home.
Reacting to the proposal, the Minister of Foreign Affairs welcomed the offer and said it would be a relief to government and Nigerians in South Africa who might be stranded following increasing violence in the Southern African country.
